Deshler Senior Center Celebrating their 30th Anniversary in October 2008 November 4, 2008 - "Election Day" Chili Cook Off - Thayer County 4-H Building December 13, 2008 - Christmas in Deshler TBA 2009 - Easter Egg Hunt April (week before City Wide Clean Up) ??, 2009 - Clean Sweep of Deshler June ??, 2009 - City Wide Garage Sale Garage sales begin at 8:00 am. Maps will be available at C-Stop and Arend's Family Foods. June 19 - 21, 2009 - Deshler Daze (Father's Day Weekend) Friday night is the annual Chicken BBQ. The activities planned for Saturday are the Pancake Feed, Fishing Contest, Garden Walk around Deshler, Remote Control Air Show, Hamburgers in the park, Free Swimming, Little Tuggers Tractor Pull Contest, and Saturday Night Alumni banquet. Sunday starts with Church services at the local Churches, 4-H Club Smoked Pork Chop Dinner at 4-H building and a Road Rally ends the weekend fun. June 21, 2009 - Fun Fly at Skyhawk Field, starting at 9 AM, Rocket launch at noon August ?, 2009 - American Cancer Society Thayer County Relay for Life, Thayer Central Track in Hebron The public is invited to join Relay team members for this moving and fun-filled event beginning with the opening ceremony and survivors’ lap at 6 PM on August 1. A theme basket auction will be held at 8 PM – come and make a bid on some very creative and valuable items. The luminaria(s) lighting ceremony takes place at dusk. Food services will be available throughout the night and we invite everyone to visit our campsites and walk with us for as long as you like.
