Thayer County School District #60 covers approximately 100 square miles. This Class 3 school district is accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education and by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools. The modern facility, built in 1983, is handicapped accessible. Band, vocal music, theater, Spanish, German, computer courses and satellite classes are offered in addition to the usual academic subjects. The Deshler Dragon Band, vocal speech, drama and athletic teams consistently vie for honors in district and state competitions. Deshler Lutheran School (Kindergarten through 8th Grade) is one part of the ministry conducted by St. Peter Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. Deshler Lutheran offers an education which meets all of the requirements of the State of Nebraska for an approved curriculum. In addition to religious instruction, English, spelling, reading, art, physical ed, science, math and social studies are provided. Southeast Technical Community College, with campuses at Milford, Beatrice and Lincoln, serves a 15-county area including Deshler. Southeast works with area industries, retailers and other agencies in planning in-service and/or in-plant training programs. Adult education classes are popular and well-attended.
